In 1635, right after the foundation of the University, the Faculty of Arts began its educational work and except for wartime periods it has been operating with an increase in the number of students. The number of regular students including PhD candidates is around 10 000.
The objective of the Faculty is to teach special subjects that deal with the evolution of human culture, its content and intellectual essence.

Student Accommodation at Eötvös Loránd University
ELTE provides you or helps you finding a suitable accommodation throughout your studies. We distinguish two accommodation services: dormitories and housing.
The Dormitory Centre, a central department, offers hundreds of high quality and affordable places and strong community in the ELTE dormitories. More than half of the international students request a dormitory place. The Housing Office, its sub-department, helps you finding an accommodation according to your individual needs by our partners on the private market including apartment houses, flats, and hostels. They are harmonized so you can apply to both services at once.
